Flower Essences
Back in the 1930s an English homeopath called Edward Bach began making a different type of remedy which was aimed at treating solely emotional symptoms. The Bach system comprises 38 Flower essences which address temporary states of mind (e.g. anticipatory anxiety, shock etc) and personality types too (e.g. a dominant or impatient person etc).
Since then many other systems have emerged in the UK and in other parts of the world, namely Australia, so that there now exist hundreds of Flower Essences at our disposal to address a huge spectrum of emotions and states.
Flower Essences, although gentle in their approach, can work in subtle yet powerful ways. They can be prescribed in combinations or on their own depending on the acuteness of the symptoms. Like Homeopathy the remedy picture needs to match the patients symptom picture as closely as possible to get the best results. This done, the effects can be seen quite quickly, indeed sometimes within days. People can experience all manner of positive responses such as considerable increase in energy, a more relaxed state of mind, a feeling of balance and harmony or the disappearance of certain strong emotions like anger, grief or fear.
Flower essences can be used with children, adults (including pregnant women) or animals and come not only as oral drops but also as creams or room sprays.
You could consider flower essences in any of the following situations:
- Stress from overwork
- Lack of interest and motivation
- Irritability, perhaps hormonal
- Lack of confidence
- Irrational fears
- Depression
